Our Programs
Before AyakaHope's intervention, the classrooms of St. Peter Claver and Hai Salaam Primary School suffered from inadequate infrastructure. The classrooms lacked proper seating, desks, etc. The walls were in disrepair, and there were no adequate facilities for strong educational materials. Additionally, there were issues with the stability of the roofing, posing safety risks to students and teachers alike. Overall, the poor infrastructure severely hindered the learning environment and compromised the quality of education provided in these classrooms.
Before: Classroom in need of repair
After: Renovated and equipped classroom
We gave a facelift to two classrooms, P1 and P2, with the assistance of a local contractor. They did a fantastic job repairing the floors, adding a fresh coat of paint to the walls, fixing up the blackboard, and ensuring the windows and doors were secure with padlocks. As part of our charity initiative, we also contributed desks to make the classrooms comfortable and ready for learning, aiming to create inviting spaces for education.
In our work, we strive for educational equity–meeting the needs of the individual. We recognize that every child and every school has unique and diverse issues—requiring unique and personalized solutions. Our organization partners up with one school at a time, making sure to carefully assess and identify the specific barriers preventing children in the local community from attending school; while simultaneously assessing the barriers faced by the individual school in providing a safe and functional learning environment for their students. After the assessment, we draft a plan which will meet the needs identified. We then carry out our plan, and direct our resources and interventions to best support the school, and residents within the school district.
Here at Ayaka Hope, our mission is to fight illiteracy, and break down the barriers that keep children from accessing education. By providing financial assistance for costs like uniforms, books, and school supplies, we are helping to bridge the gap to make school more accessible. We believe every child should have the chance at a brighter future, to work towards their goals and achieve their dreams. By supporting the children of South Sudan, we hope to assist in creating a strong foundation for local communities and future generations.
